There are two main types of of ranges in the field of blood chemistry analysis: a pathological range and a functional range. The pathological range is used to diagnose disease. The functional range is used to assess risk for disease, ideally BEFORE disease develops. The reference ranges provided with lab tests are referred to as the "pathological range." The main difference between the pathological and functional values is the degree of deviation allowed within their ranges. For example, the functional (ideal) glucose range is about 85-100, but the pathological range is about 65-110.These levels below or above the functional range often signify low blood sugar, and hypoglycemia, or insulin resistance and diabetes!
Traditional western medical training usually supports the notion that care should only be provided when disease is present. This ignores the philosophies of preventive medicine and nutrition. The main difference between healthcare providers who accept or reject functional ranges boils down to their definition of health. Some define health simply as an absence of disease, but others believe having good energy, a strong immune system, good sleep and digestive function, plus ideal physiological function, defines optimal health.
The goal of Francie's Metabolic Therapy is to help empower and inspire you to be a pro-active "full partner" in your health so you can remain vibrant and youthful well into your senior years. This report is your first step toward that goal.
So how does this Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis work?
- Symptom Profiling and Lab Report(s)
Simply print out the "Metabolic Assessment" form and the "Neurological Assessment" form on the Forms page. Fill them out and return to me, along with copies of current lab reports (past 2 years or ideally past year) via either e-mail attachment (preferred), or snail-mail to:
Francie's Metabolic Therapy
2677 Willakenzie Rd., Ste 7-G
Eugene, OR 97401
Or place completed forms in a sealed envelope with, "Francie Killian" written on front, and drop in the mail slot at my office location. If mailing through USPS, you will likely need at least two stamps, so please get your mailing weighed and stamped or metered appropriately before mailing!
- Nutritional Management
After my thorough analysis of your questionnaires and lab reports, I will prepare a report which will address:
- My findings and interpretation of your questionnaires and current labs.
- Suggestions for any lifestyle, dietary and nutritional supplement interventions, and or other metabolic/medical testing to help complete the picture.
